The search for the Holy Grail has been a popular theme in literature, art, and film for centuries. The most famous of these works is the medieval poem “Le Morte d’Arthur” by Sir Thomas Malory, which tells the story of King Arthur and his knights’ quest for the Grail. The very design of these copper rounds gives a sense that it too was inspired by Arthurian legend.
The obverse side of the Medieval Legends Holy Grail Copper Round comes with a vision of a Medieval knight guarding the Holy Grail. Here, the knight stands in the background in full armor with a shield that bears a rampant lion in one hand and a staff in the other. The wall behind him is filled with skulls and the Holy Grail rests on a table in front of him.
On the reverse of the 1 oz Holy Grail Copper Round, you will find a depiction of a simple table setting. This design element has featured on all rounds in this series and though the items on the table may seem random, each one has significant meaning. Each of these relics reflects a different item or character to feature in this series. The Holy Grail itself rests on the left of the table near the candle and apple.
