With a limited supply of platinum produced each year and demand for the metal stretched across various industries, investing in platinum bars is a reliable hedge against other market factors. Platinum is widely used each year across a number of industries. Its resistance to corrosion, together with the fact that it is malleable and highly unreactive, makes it’s a popular metal for use in catalytic converters in automobiles, laboratory equipment, and electrical contacts, just to name a few. With just a few hundred tonnes of platinum produced annually, and the wide number of industries seeking its use each year, platinum has become an incredibly valuable commodity in the precious metals market.
On the obverse of 10 Gram Valcambi Platinum Bars is a depiction of the company logo. The unique image of the logo is said to be the result of combining the visual appearance of four LBMA Good Delivery bars cut on a cross-section. This side of the bar also includes the weight, metal content, and purity of the bar, as well as its unique serial number. The serial numbers in the platinum bar series from Valcambi use a two-letter, six-number coding system.
The reverse face of 10 Gram Platinum Bars includes the mint name with the mint logo in the lower-right field. From the edges of the mint logo, a repetitive square outline emanates out to all edges of the bar. The name of the mint is inscribed along the left side and the bar needs to be held vertically to read it in a proper left-to-right manner.
Valcambi Suisse was originally founded in 1961 as Valori & Cambi. Its current name of Valcambi Suisse came as a result of the company’s 1968 acquisition by Credit Suisse. In a nod to the original company, Valori & Cambi was combined into Valcambi.
