No series of American paper money is responsible for more iconic, artistic designs than the Silver Certificate. Issued by the United States from 1878 to 1964, Silver Certificates were redeemable for the face value of the note in silver dollars throughout much of the history of the series. During its nearly century-long production cycle, the Silver Certificate collection generated some very memorable paper note designs. Among them, the 1899 Black Eagle. Right now is your chance to own this iconic design on an 1899 $1 Black Eagle Silver Certificate in Very Fine condition from JM Bullion.

Each of the 1899 $1 Black Eagle Silver Certificates available here will ship with a protective currency sleeve to house the certificate. The currency sleeve helps ensure the continued Very Fine condition of the Silver Certificate during the shipping process. Paper notes in this condition retain impressive crispness with very few noticeable signs of wear and tear around the edges. The only noticeable signs of wear and tear common in a Very Fine note are folds, creases, and wrinkles from circulation use.
The 1899 $1 Black Eagle Silver Certificate was the fourth obverse design to feature on the $1 denomination in the series. It replaced one of the most popular and coveted images from the $1 Silver Certificate, the female allegory of History from the Educational Series of designs on the $1, $2, and $5 notes in this series. The Black Eagle Silver Certificate was the first paper note in American history to feature two former US Presidents on the same note.
On the obverse side of 1899 Black Eagle Silver Certificates is the image of an American bald eagle. Set at the center of the design element, the bald eagle is perched on a horizontal flagpole with its wings spread out to its sides. The flagpole features an American flag and you will notice the US Capitol Building in the background behind the eagle. Beneath the flagpole and American flag, there are portraits of President Abraham Lincoln on the left and President Ulysses S. Grant on the right.
The reverse face of the 1899 $1 Black Eagle Silver Certificate is a rather simple design. This face of the note comes with an ornate border design that includes the numeric value of the note on the left and right edges, with the text value of the note in each of the four corners.
