The Burnished ATB Coins undergo the same special treatment during the coining process that the Burnished American Eagle coins receive. The coins are first vapor blasted to create a matte finish that lacks the luster of the bullion coins. Each one is individually handled during the coining process to ensure the visual brilliance remains unscathed by oils and dirt from human hands.
On the obverse of the 2010-P 5 oz Burnished ATB Yellowstone Silver Coin is the effigy of President George Washington. This image is the oldest in circulation in the United States. This left-profile design was created in 1932 by John Flanagan to appear on the circulation quarter in honor of Washington’s 200th birthday. It remains on the quarter to this day.
The reverse side of the 2010 Burnished ATB Yellowstone Silver Coin features the image of a bison standing in the foreground as Old Faithful lets off steam in the background design. Yellowstone National Park is located in parts of three different states in the Western United States: Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Wyoming has the largest share of land in the park.
Yellowstone was established by Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. The park and land preserved by this act became the first national park in the United States.
All Burnished ATB Silver Coins have a mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint. The Philadelphia Mint produces only the burnished coins in this series, with the West Point Mint striking the bullion version.
