As Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II has proven record-breaking in her reign. Not only has she surpassed her great-great-grandmother as the longest-reigning British monarch, she has set numerous other records. On February 6, 2017, she became the first British monarch to celebrate a sapphire jubilee, marking 65 years on the throne.
She is also the longest-reigning female monarch in world history, and is the current longest-reigning monarch in the world following the October 2016 death of Bhumibol Adulyadej (also known as Rama IX), who was the King of Thailand.
All 2017 1 Kilo Proof British Silver Queen’s Beast Lion Coins ship inside of a unique wooden display box from the Royal Mint, and include a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The proof series of coins debuted months after the bullion coins in the Queen’s Beast collection, offering collectors a low-mintage coin with a method of manufacture that provides sharpness of detail and a mirror-like surface.
The reverse of all Proof British Silver Queen’s Beast Lion coins includes a unique take on the Lion of England. Though the nation’s shield is featured in the foreground, the massive Lion of England stands guard behind the shield. Raised up on its hind legs with a crown adorning its head, the Lion of England raises its right paw in preparation to attack those who would do the United Kingdom harm.
On the obverse of all 2017 1 Kilo Proof British Silver Queen’s Beast Lion Coins you’ll find Queen Elizabeth II’s right-profile portrait. Created in 2015 by Jody Clark, this is the latest fifth-generation depiction of Her Majesty to appear on British coinage. At 33 years old, Clark is the youngest Royal Mint engraver to complete her depiction for a coin.
