The panda is one of the most distinctive animal species in the world. Easily spotted by the large, black patches of fur on its ears and around its eyes, these black-and-white bears inhabit China’s south-central regions and feature on the annual bullion release of the Chinese Mint. The 2017 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda Coin is available today from JM Bullion.

Chinese Panda coins are available annually in silver and gold, but the gold coins have a more established bullion release schedule that dates to 1982. The Silver Panda coins were originally available starting in 1983 only as proof coins, with regular bullion mintage starting in 1988.
Throughout the history of the Chinese Panda series from the Chinese Mint, a new design has featured on the obverse side of the coin in every year except for the 2001 and 2002 releases which used the same design in both years.
All 2017 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda Coins in this listing are in BU condition. Coins in this condition show no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice minor flaws including breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.
On the obverse of the Chinese Silver Panda is the newest panda design from the Chinese Mint. Typical engravings and design features included again this year include a bamboo wall in the background, and the face value of the coin in Yuan.
The reverse of the 2017 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda includes the outer facade of the Temple of Heaven. Engravings on this side include the Mandarin-language text of “People’s Republic of China,” as well as the year of issue for the coins.
Chinese Silver Panda coins and their gold counterparts are products of the Chinese Mint. Operated by the People’s Bank of China, the Chinese Mint strikes its annual release bullion coins at various mints while also producing circulation currency for the nation.
