The smallest gold coin in the Chinese Panda Series is the 1 Gram gold option. The series debuted in 1982 with Troy oz weights, but the 1 Gram coin, then the 1/20 oz gold coin, was not introduced until 1983. When all of the coins shifted to Grams in 2016, the 1/20 oz coin became the 1 Gram coin. Right now, 2021 1 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.

In 2016, the Chinese Mint made the switch from Troy oz to Grams in the weight measurements for its Chinese Panda bullion coins. The 1 Troy oz coins in gold and silver became 30 Gram coins, with the fractional-ounce gold coins becoming 15 Gram, 8 Gram, 3 Gram, and 1 Gram coins. While some of the coins saw the actual total weight in Grams shrink slightly, others saw the weight increase. The true weight of the 30 Gram, 15 Gram, 3 Gram, and these 1 Gram coins actually shrank slightly. The 8 Gram coin actually saw its total weight increase from 7.7758 Grams as a 1/4 oz coin to a flat 8 Grams.
On the obverse of 2021 Chinese Gold Panda Coins is a depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests features the external façade of the building. The hall is located within the Temple of Heaven Complex in south-central Beijing and is one of four Taoist religious sites in the city.
The reverse face of 2021 1 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coins features a new depiction of the Giant Panda. A large, unique bear species found natively in the central highlands of China, the Giant Pandas in this design include a mother and its cub. The mother panda is standing nearby with one paw on the back of her cub as it climbs the trunk of a tree.
