In 2019, KOMSCO introduced the Taekwondo Series of medals. Offered in various weights of gold and silver, the series comes with a new depiction of a taekwondo fighter on the reverse. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that focuses on the use of punches and kicks. In particular, these punches and kicks consist of rapid punches, as well as head-height kicks.
All of the 2021 1 oz Proof South Korean Silver Taekwondo Medals available here come in themed presentation boxes. The box has the design of a taekwondo dobok and the Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the back of the box. As proof silver medals, each one has frosted designs and mirrored fields.
In the obverse design of the 2021 Proof South Korean Silver Taekwondo Medals, you will find a taekwondo master smashing his fist through several layers of boards. Taekwondo is based on a combination of other forms of martial arts that includes both indigenous forms from the Korean peninsula, as well as Chinese martial arts and Japanese karate.
For the reverse side of 2021 1 oz Proof Silver Taekwondo Medals, KOMSCO features the Taegeuk. This symbol of the Republic of Korea is common on KOMSCO bullion medals and represents the nation behind the release of KOMSCO products.
KOMSCO is the official mint of the Republic of Korea. Found in 1951, KOMSCO is responsible for printing banknotes, striking coins, and issuing other government documents for South Korea.
