2011 America The Beautiful Coins from JM Bullion

American quarters celebrated the major monuments, parks, and forests found in each US state on the American quarters program launched at the end of the 20th century. Now, the United States Mint has launched a new America the Beautiful quarter series that consists of larger 5 oz coins honoring the nation’s memorable monuments, national parks, and national forests. JM Bullion proudly offers 2011 ATB Silver Coins to our shoppers.

    About America the Beautiful Coins

In 2010, the United States Mint unveiled the all-new America the Beautiful coin series. The 56-coin series consists of five new coin designs each year, honoring a different state or territory from across the country. In total, the Mint will release five coin designs each year through 2021, with that final year consisting of just one new design. All 50 states in the US will be represented, as well as the federal district of Washington DC, and the nation’s five overseas territories of Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.

The ATB Silver coin series features new designs each year, with coins released based upon the date of the park, forest, or monument’s establishment as a federally protected entity. For example, Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas is the nation’s oldest established park, and was featured on the reverse of the first coin released in the ATB series.

The 2011 ATB Silver Coin Series on JM Bullion

At JM Bullion, we proudly offer investors and collectors each of the five coins released during the 2011 America the Beautiful coin program. In just the second year of the ATB series, the Mint released coins representing the following states and places:

    • Pennsylvania: The first coin released in the 2011 series featured stoic images from Gettysburg National Military Park. The site of America’s bloodiest battle ever, this coin commemorates the battlefield, which was established as a national park on February 11, 1895. A total of 126,700 coins with the Gettysburg design were minted.
    • Montana: Glacier National Park is one of the most spectacular in the lower 48 states. The area was established as a national park on February 22, 1897. The Glacier National Park coins had a high mintage for the America the Beautiful series with 126,700 total coins produced.
    • Washington: Olympic National Park is home to Mount Olympia, one of the highest peaks in the lower 48 states. The mountain and its surrounding environment were established as a protected park on the same day as Glacier National Park in 1897. The U.S. Mint produced 104,900 Olympic National Park coins.
    • Mississippi: Vicksburg National Military Park commemorates one of the Civil War’s most significant turning points. Following a 47-day siege by Union forces, Vicksburg, MS and its Confederate defenders fell to the Union. Following Confederate defeat in Vicksburg, the Union took control of the Mississippi River and split the Confederacy in two. The park was established on February 21, 1899. While other 2011 ATB coins saw fairly high mintages, the Vicksburg National Military Park coin saw a mintage of only 58,100.
    • Oklahoma: Chickasaw National Recreation Area is a unique environment within the otherwise dry, arid state of Oklahoma. Visitors can enjoy a stroll along the banks of quiet rivers and enjoy picnics in the shade of the area’s many trees. The region was established as a federally protected area on July 1, 1902. The Chickasaw National Recreation Area coin saw the small mintage of 2011 with only 48,700 coins produced.

All 2011 ATB Silver Coins feature a unique image from a national park, forest, or monument on the reverse. Each design honors a specific state. The obverse side of all coins features the left-profile portrait of President George Washington. The same image that appears on circulation quarters, Washington’s image is derived from an 1876 bust created by William Cousins.

Graded 2011 ATB Silver Coins at JM Bullion

While JM Bullion offers each of these coins in brilliant, uncirculated condition, we also proudly offer a variety of these 2011 ATB Silver coins with certified grades from either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or the Professional Coin Grading Service. These two certification services are not the only ones to grade coins, but are the most prominent actors in the industry. Certification from these services adds inherent value to any coin.

If you’re unfamiliar with grades and descriptions from the NGC and PCGS, you can learn about them in brief below:

    • Mint State 70: An MS70 grade is the highest any bullion coin can earn, and signifies the coin has its full, original luster, and no detracting flaws of any kind.
    • Mint State 69: The next most common grade, MS69 is reserved for coins with full, original luster, but also a maximum of two minor detracting flaws.
    • DM: Known as deeply-mirrored, these coins have a clear background field.
    • DMPL: Defined as deeply-mirrored, proof-like, coins in this condition have a near-proof finish.

Any 2011 ATB Silver Coin available for purchase through JM Bullion is sold and shipped in a plastic slab to protect the coin’s condition, ensuring you receive the coin in the condition it was viewed and graded by the NGC or PCGS.
