All of the coins in the Lunar Series II program feature new designs from the original lunar series the mint introduced in 1996. The Year of the Rooster coin in Lunar Series II features a brilliant new design and is available in a range of weights that start with this 2017 1/2 oz Australian Silver Rooster coin, and stretch upwards to 10 oz.
The Year of the Rooster is celebrated with a design that includes not just one rooster, but a small family of chickens. The design includes the image of a large rooster, but also a hen and several small chickens.
Each of the 2017 1/2 oz Australian Silver Rooster Coins in this product listing feature a BU condition. Coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice minor flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.
The obverse of each Year of the Rooster coin you’ll find the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Though a new image is available of the Queen, the Perth Mint continues with the use of Ian Rank-Broadley’s 1998 image of Her Majesty.
On the reverse of the 2017 1/2 oz Australian Silver Rooster Coin is the unique Year of the Rooster design outlined above. Engravings on this side include the Chinese symbol for rooster and the phrase “Year of the Rooster.”
Perth Mint is located in Perth, Western Australia and is a former Royal Mint system facility. It was the third and final facility opened by the British in Australia, and remains today as the oldest operating facility in the nation.
