The Australian Gold Kangaroo Series from the Perth Mint is one of its oldest and most respected collections. The series has been around since 1986 and has been available in its current iteration, as the Gold Kangaroo, since 1990. One of the most unique options in the collection is the 1/2 Gram Gold Kangaroo.

Meet the Mini-Roo

Given the diminutive size of the coin, the 1/2 Gram Australian Gold Kangaroo is affectionately known as the Australian Gold Mini-Roo. These 1/2 Gram gold coins contain .01607 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold and bear a face value of $2 (AUD) backed by the government of Australia. Each coin comes with a bust of the monarch of the United Kingdom on the obverse, and a new annual depiction of the kangaroo on the reverse.

Distinct Packaging

Unlike the other coins in the series, the Mini-Roo is individually packaged and comes with a protective capsule. The coins are not just housed in capsule, but also set within a presentation card that offers an image of the kangaroo.
