The designs on each of the bars in this collection were inspired by propaganda posters produced by the US federal government’s War Board to drum up support among the American populace for entering World War II. As a brief background on the concept, the federal government often employed or utilized volunteer artists during WWII to create visual posters extolling the virtues of America’s entrance into World War II. Many of the posters encouraged Americans to buy war bonds to provide financial support to the war effort. These posters were created with full-color visuals and hung in public spaces from libraries and grocery stores to schools and government buildings.

For each of the releases in this series, Osborne limited the mintage of the 2 oz bars to just 2,500 pieces. Each one was packaged in a specially made protective acrylic capsule and offered with a Certificate of Authenticity. The obverse field of each one had the colorized imagery, while the reverse design of each bar was the same across the series and had no colorization. The reverse field featured a team of American GIs providing cover fire for advancing friendly fighters. Lastly, each bar was assigned its own unique serial number.

As for the obverse designs, each one of the four releases was reflective of a different propaganda poster used by the United States during the war. These images included (in order):

• Americans Will Always Fight for Liberty – the debut design offered a depiction of American GIs in World War II-era fatigues marching in unison in front of a colorized field. That background field reflected the fighting spirit of the Continental Army with Revolutionary War-era soldiers in formation in the snowy background.
• Buy That Invasion Bond – the second design featured combined silver and colorized fields once again. This time, the frightening reality of a beachhead invasion comes to life as GIs storm the beaches. The background field is filled with colorized images of fighter planes whizzing overhead for close air support and a fleet of ships offshore providing cover fire and support to the advancing GIs.
• I’m Counting On You! – for the third release, Uncle Sam makes an appearance with a colorized American flag as the background element. Uncle Sam has a finger to his mouth encouraging Americans to keep quiet. The inscription reminds them not to discuss troop movements, ship sailings, and war equipment with anyone, relaying a suspicion that spies could be living among the populous and share that information with America’s enemies.
• Buy War Bonds – one of the most iconic symbols of America’s entry into the war was an irate Uncle Sam directing America’s GIs into the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Emerging from the smoldering wreckage of Pearl Harbor, Uncle Sam has a brightly colored American flag over his shoulder and points the way forward for the onrushing troops at his feet and the procession of fighters and bombers passing overhead.
